Sure 90/2000's hip hop brings back the sense of nostalgia, but not listening to anything after 2005 and up? Kinda missing on a lot of good hip hop.

@ back then it seemed too much of a change in style for me and I didn't want to accept it and it kind of stayed that way, there's so much music made before that year that I can't possibly listen to it all in my life time anyway, it isn't just music by itself that I reject, it's that music represents a period of time/history/culture and I just don't like the world of the 21st Century, listening to old stuff makes me feel happy and wishing I could go back to that time when life was better (for me). I know there are gems to be found in the last 20y but there's certainly a lot of garbage. :)

One thing i think it's almost transversal: 20th century's music, culture and society in general was better in quality and cohesion than today's. Growing up on that era feels like was so much better.
I was born in early 2000's. You're a millennial so you have a more holistic perspective of that time than me.
In 20y sure has a lot of good hip and a lot of garbage. 70's-90's the music standards were high, meaning that classic defining genre songs were made and garbage music was done to a minimal amount. But every era has it's "garbage/less likeable" songs.

@ yeah true and I can see this cycle repeating again with AI generated stuff, speech synthesis has gotten already so good there are actually full songs being released completely made by AI and it will only get worse or better depends on where you stand, books as well, online interaction (dead internet theory) etc. I wonder if people will embrace this or reject it, but it seems like we're going through another cultural shift, at least us born before 2020 will have something nice to look back at and remember
